Ever flipped over a supplement label and thought... “What even is that?” At bronzebody®, we believe in glow-from-within ingredients that are not only effective, but easy to understand. This mini glossary breaks down 10 of our favorite skin-supporting ingredients — so you can glow smarter and shop with confidence.
1. Beta-Carotene
A natural plant pigment found in carrots and sweet potatoes, beta-carotene helps support melanin production and even skin tone. It’s a gentle glow-booster that encourages a warm, sun-kissed complexion.
2. Tocotrienols
The underrated cousin of vitamin E, tocotrienols are powerful antioxidants that help protect skin from UV stress and support elasticity. They’re up to 60x more potent than tocopherols (the common form of vitamin E).
3. Astaxanthin
A red-pigmented carotenoid found in microalgae (and the reason flamingos are pink!). Astaxanthin helps reduce oxidative stress, improve hydration, and protect skin from photoaging.
4. Lycopene
This antioxidant is found in tomatoes and watermelon. Lycopene helps even out skin tone, reduce redness, and protect against sun-induced damage.
5. Lutein
Known for supporting eye health, lutein also plays a role in filtering blue light and improving skin hydration. We love it for its protective, anti-inflammatory glow-up powers.
6. Probiotics
The gut-skin axis is real. Probiotics help balance your digestive system, reduce inflammation, and improve nutrient absorption — all of which directly impact your skin’s clarity and glow.
7. Zinc
Zinc helps with cell repair, reduces redness, and supports immune function. It's especially helpful for healing and strengthening the skin barrier.
8. Vitamin C (Ascorbic Acid)
Essential for collagen production, brightening skin, and fighting oxidative stress. We don’t always formulate with it (it can be tricky with other ingredients), but it’s a skin care staple.
9. Niacinamide
A form of vitamin B3 that helps brighten skin, reduce inflammation, and strengthen the skin barrier. You’ll find this one in a lot of topical routines — and yes, it's helpful in supplement form too.
10. Polypodium Leucotomos
A tropical fern extract used in many dermatologist-recommended sun care supplements. It’s known for helping reduce UV damage and improve skin resilience — and while we don’t currently use it in bronzebody®, it’s a great ingredient to know.
Final Thoughts
Skincare labels don’t need to be confusing. When you understand the ingredients, you can make informed choices — and build a glow routine that actually works.
